May You Shelter in the...

"May you shelter in the palm of the Creator's hand, and may the last embrace of the mother welcome you home." - Robert Jordan

On September 16, 2007 around 2:45pm, James Oliver Rigney lost his battle with Amyloidosis. James Rigney, known as Robert Jordan, is the author of the Wheel of Time series as well as several other fantasy books. The Wheel of Time series had 11 books in the series and one prequel. The series is currently unfinished, with one book left to be written. From what I have heard, Robert Jordan recorded all of the plot lines and major goings on of the story and has a army of writers that will be finishing the final book.

I am a big fan of the Wheel of Time series and would recommend it to any fantasy reader. I would like to send my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of James. He will be missed, but not forgotten.

Busy...Not Me

So one of my faithful readers...ok, my only faithful reader is unhappy at the fact that I don't update this blog enough. The fact is that stress and classes have been getting the better of me. Currently I am taking a break from reading, tonight I have to read an entire book on leadership, another large chapter on Diffusion of Innovation, the Pastoral Epistles, and another chapter on how to preach pretty. I'm halfway done with the book, but other than that I haven't got anything else started. My mind is fried, so I'm probably not really sounding witty, and I think my wit is failing me in regular conversation as well as written. What is this world coming too...

New Communion?!?

So I overheard someone talking about a new edict issued by the Pope today. Supposedly, the Catholic Church will now be recognizing a new, synthetic form of bread during communion. The new type of "bread" will come in a couple of different shapes, including your typical flat disc wafer, a cross, and an Ichthus. Taste tests were done, and there are a couple of different flavors that will be available to parishioners. There is white, wheat, and for the more liberal Catholics, jalapeƱo flavored. Of course, not all parishes will have all of the flavor options.
This move by the Catholic Church is a surprising one coming from Pope Benny, who is very staunch theologian. The New Communion will probably be in most parishes by the new year, oh and I almost forgot to tell you the name, it will no longer be called the Eucharist, but "I can't Believe it's not Jesus!"

Back at it...

So school has started. What does that mean for my readers here, well it means that I will likely have a bit more time to blog here. So basically, you get to hear stupid things that I find mildly amusing, and then my thoughts on them. So really, my question is why do you read it? What do you want me to talk about?

Please, respond...otherwise I will talk about a lot of really stupid things.

I'm serious.

Idiot...

What kind of moron speaks his mind in very rude ways, insulting all kinds of people, including, but not limited to public officials, the President, Governors, and the Military. No, I’m not talking about me, I’m talking about the window-licking National Guardsman from California. On his website howtokillpeople.com he wrote rants and raves about everyone from every religion and all walks of life. Now I am all for self-expression, else I wouldn’t have this blog. But in this guys case, he ripped apart all minorities, had pictures of himself holding guns up to black people in tribal attire, criticized Governor Schwarzenegger for being stupid and his wife for being ugly. Now, some people would find if funny, what isn’t funny is the fact that his rants are actually breaking military law.

Military law states that it is a crime for an enlisted man or women to use contemptuous words against a public official. Currently the site is pretty much shutdown except for a statement that appears to have been more written by a lawyer than the idiot himself. From my personal perspective, and my personal opinion, this shouldn’t be allowed on the internet. But that is only my opinion…

Back...basically

Ok, So with school starting back up next week, and a schedule that allows me to write a little more, I will be back in full swing in about a week. However, I was reading an article today about Michael Vick. Apparently the NAACP doesn't think that Vick should be banned from the NFL for his Dogfighting business. Now, I am not unreasonable, I mean personally, I think she should be banned, I despise cruelty to animals. I think that his "Company" did horrible things to the dogs, I believe that he probably did kill some of the dogs himself in horrible ways, and he deserves the jail time and the fines for it. I also think that he should be cut off from the means in which he created the business. Therefore I think he should ban from the NFL, and not get any more money from them or any sponsors.

However, the NAACP has said that Vick is getting too much bad press. They said that he would get this much bad press if he would have killed a human. They also, even though they don't condone dogfighting, don't understand the uproar about dogfighting. According to them, what is the difference between dogfighting, and hunting deer and other animals.

Well NAACP, I will tell you what the difference is about this case. First, Vick is getting a lot of bad press, if he would have killed a person, he still would have had a lot of press because he is a sports star. However, if you want to compare apples to apples, Vick would have gotten a lot more press if he would have had an illegal underground fighting ring, where humans fought to the death, and in test fights, if they didn't fair well enough, then they would have been killed. That my friends would have been world headlines.

Now, you want to put dogfighting and hunting in the same boat. I am a hunter, I go out, find where the Wild Animals are, track their habits, set myself up in a blind, and I hunt them. That is not the same as training domesticated animals to fight each other to the death. I mean I suppose I could capture two deer, put them in a small enclosed space, not feed them, beat them, and try to train them to fight each other, but I really don't think people would go for that, infact I bet there would be an uproar for that as well.

NAACP I don't think Vick is getting bad press because he is black, I think he is getting bad press because he did horrible things. Stop trying to justify what he did with weak arguments that make no sense. If you are truly looking out for the Advancement of Colored People, don't try to hold up a Vick as a martyr, as a man who has done wrong but could turn around. Hold him up as an example of what people aren't suppose to be, and if you decide to be stupid, like Vick and his friends, then you are going to pay the consequences.

Am I saying Vick is a lost cause, No. But don't rally behind him, find someone who is doing something worth while, trying to feed the poor, help the homeless, not someone who is brutally murdering dogs because they are too weak to fight to the death in some pit.

Just One of Those Funny Things

I know I haven't posted in a long time. I am actually looking at creating another blog that would be dealing with technical things, but still keeping this one for my love for making fun of stupid people. And in that vein, here are some creative ways of explaining solutions to problems...

Qantas' Pilot Gripe Sheet After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the form, and then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor. Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas'

Pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S) by maintenance engineers.

By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.

S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.

S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.

S: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Dead bugs on windshield.

S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.

S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.

S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.

S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.

S: That's what they're for.

P: IFF inoperative.

S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.

S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.

S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny.

S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.

S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.

S: Cat installed.

And the best one for last..................

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget pounding on something with a hammer.

S: Took hammer away from midget
